Paraguay bounced back from an opening 2-1 defeat against Uzbekistan by emerging victorious against Panama in a match they dominated at the FIFA U-17 World Cup™. They had the lion’s share of the chances and sealed the 2-1 win in the second half to remain in the running for a knockout stage berth.
In their final group outing they face a mouthwatering tie against the already-qualified Republic of Ireland on Tuesday. Paraguay coach Mariano Uglessich had Pedro Villalba, the Player of the Match, to thank for guiding his side over the line against Panama. He nestled home a right-footed strike to score the South American side’s second goal of the encounter and was also heavily involved in the rehearsed set-piece that produced their opener, linking up with Carlos Franco.
It's virtually all to play for as the second batch of groups come to a close in Qatar.
